Carbon is an invite-only network of exceptional technology talent from around the world. Carbon empowers software developers, UX/UI designers and data specialists in growing their careers by unlocking access to exclusive roles, on either a project or permanent basis.

Once you get access, Carbon offers a wide range of contract positions. Create a profile and get visibility into in-demand freelance jobs with compensation always displayed upfront.

To get started, you first need to apply to join the Carbon network. You will be asked a series of questions about your past professional experience, and schedule a call with your Carbon Talent Manager. You may also be asked to complete a coding assessment to show off your technical skills. Once you pass, access is granted to Carbon’s network and our available contract roles.

You will gain access to exclusive remote freelance jobs that match your skill set. Once you’ve created a profile and set your status to available, you will be matched to opportunities that fit your expertise. Carbon clients may re-engage contractors they’ve worked with before, so successful long term relationships with particular clients are common. You also benefit from the support provided by Carbon’s community of fellow remote contractors and Talent Partners.

Contractors on Carbon set their own rates, either hourly or daily. Whilst some projects might offer higher rates than others, it is important to be realistic about your desired rate to align with your skillset and seniority. The market will ultimately determine the rate you are paid and your Carbon Talent Partner is there to help you get the best rate possible.

Carbon network offers a wide range of contracts, ranging from 3, 6, or 12 months to permanent engagements. Contractors can also find project-based work on Carbon.

A wide variety of global companies hire contractors on Carbon, from early stage startups to late stage scale-ups and large enterprises.

Carbon currently only supports contractors working between UTC-7 and UTC+4. This includes Chile to Armenia and everywhere in between. Whilst Carbon is a fully-remote network, contracts on Carbon typically require some degree of timezone overlap depending on where the client is based.

Contractors are required to submit monthly invoices to Carbon for their services, which are paid within 20 business days.

Our HQ is in Tallinn, Estonia, but we are a remote-first company with teams distributed across Europe, including an administrative hub in Bucharest, Romania.

Yes, there is a referral program in place for both new contractors and new clients. If you have a friend who wants to join the Carbon network or you are aware of a company that could be interested in working with us, you could earn up to €3,000 per successful referral. Yes, Carbon is and always will be free for contractors in the Carbon network. There are no sign up or registration fees. We finance our service by charging clients a set staffing fee on top of each contractor’s desired rate.
